Haunted Histories & Mysteries of Port Townsend invites locals and visitors to step into the shadows and explore the town’s legendary past. These guided Haunted Walks weave together true history, local lore, and a few lingering mysteries—bringing Port Townsend’s stories to life after dark.
This popular event celebrates our historic downtown while drawing people into local businesses during the spring and fall shoulder seasons.

2026 Fall Haunted Histories
Each October, Haunted Histories & Mysteries of Port Townsend invites locals and visitors to step into the shadows and explore the town’s legendary past. Held on Saturdays throughout the month, these guided Haunted Walks weave together true history, local lore, and a few lingering mysteries—bringing Port Townsend’s stories to life after dark.

Step beyond the usual tour and unlock a side of Port Townsend few get to experience.
Haunted Histories & Mysteries: Behind Closed Doors is an extended walking tour that ventures beyond our traditional route, offering exclusive access to places not normally open to the public. Along the way, you'll uncover even more of Port Townsend's haunted history, colorful characters, and mysterious legends before gathering at the Old Whiskey Mill for sips, snacks, and a few final ghost stories.
We're still putting the finishing touches on this brand-new experience, so stay tuned for more details. Trust us... it'll be worth the wait.
Tour Guidelines
- Recommended for mature audiences. Tours include adult themes and storytelling that may not be suitable for young children. Ages 16+
- Dress for the weather. Walks take place mostly outdoors in early spring conditions—please wear warm layers and comfortable walking shoes.
- Respect our local businesses. At select points, the tour may briefly enter participating historic buildings. Please be courteous, mindful of ongoing business, and follow your guide’s instructions while indoors.
- Accessibility note. Due to uneven sidewalks, stairs, and the historic nature of the route, these tours are not ADA accessible.
