Tax Credit Program

For businesses, the Main Street B&O Tax Credit Incentive Program (MSTCIP) offers a unique opportunity to amplify your impact. By pledging a donation, you’ll receive a 75% credit on your Washington State B&O taxes the following year. This program, exclusive to Washington State, lets you decide how your tax dollars are spent, allowing you to reinvest directly into the community you love while supporting local businesses and events.

Loan Programs

The Port Townsend Main Street Program offers several loan options for businesses in the Commercial Historic Districts. These include HUD Low Interest Loans, which are available for rehabilitating commercial buildings, and the LENT Low Interest Loan Program, which helps offset financial impacts from emergency situations. Proposals for business development are also considered under these programs.

Commercial and Retail Spaces Available

In order for the historic business districts to remain vibrant it takes all of us. A big component to that is making sure storefronts, residents, and other rentable spaces remain fully occupied. Each month PTMS features these listings in our monthly newsletter.

Bird Abatement

Port Townsend Main Street coordinates with the USDA Wildlife Resources to support humane practices to control the seagull population in Port Townsend.
Main Street coordinates a downtown bird abatement program with the cooperation of property owners and the USDA Wildlife Service. This program was effective and we plan on working with the agents again if building owners want to collaborate.

Property Owner Resources

Washington Trust for Historic Preservation – Historic Tax Credits – The Federal Historic Tax Credit (HTC) provides owners of historic buildings with an incentive to invest in the difficult task of rehabilitating their properties according to the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
