  Our Mission: To Preserve, Promote, and Enhance our Historic Business Districts.

SPRING

Earth Day Spring Clean-Up – April 20th, 2024 9-12 Noon. We coordinate volunteers and encourage business owners to help clean up and beautify downtown and uptown Port Townsend.

May Main Street Art Wave showcases K-12th grade student artwork for the month of May in businesses uptown and downtown. This promotion helps create awareness of arts education programs in the public schools. Cost: Free for members; $15 nonmembers. “Art Affair” fundraisers for the Arts in Education Program in the Port Townsend School District occur throughout the year.

Hanging Flower Basket Program – Flower baskets are ordered directly through Port Townsend Garden Center. Main Street offers an optional watering and maintenance program, cost varies according to # of baskets. May through September 30th. Stay tuned for more info for 2024.

SUMMER

Concerts on the Dock A free 8-week outdoor concert series featuring primarily local bands on Thursdays starting  July 11th and running through August 2024. The concerts take place at the Pope Marine Plaza from 5:00-7:30 pm and include a beer/wine/cider garden and local vendors. Attendance ranges from 350-500 each week. Goal: To create a connection with downtown, showcase great regional music and local businesses. Local businesses help sponsor these shows through venue sponsorships, beer/wine garden sponsorships, and stage sponsorships.

August 17th, 2024 – Uptown Street Fair & Parade – Over 2000 attend the event on Lawrence Street from 9 am to 5 pm. Local businesses help sponsor the event. Attendance is estimated at over 2,000. The goal of the event is to celebrate the Uptown Historic Business District and neighborhood, offer family fun, showcase great local art with the PT Arts Guild Arts & Crafts Fair as well as music, local food, and The Farmers’ Market. The Port Townsend Main Street Program helps coordinate the event, provides event insurance and marketing assistance.

FALL/WINTER

October 3rd, 2024 – Main Street Girls’ Night Out to raise funds for Jefferson Healthcare Community Foundation to help provide free Breast/Cervical Cancer screenings for local women in need and the Port Townsend Main Street Program through the sale of 600 goodie bags. Promotion cost is $40 for members ($50 nonmembers). Approximately 600 event attendees.

October 31st, 2024 – Main Street Downtown Trick or Treat & Costume Parade on Halloween at 4 pm; The Port Townsend Main Street Program has coordinated this event since 1994. We work with the Port Townsend Police to close the streets from 3:45 to 5:30 pm. Attendance estimate: 2,000 Goal: a family-friendly event in the safe atmosphere of downtown and cultivate a community connection with downtown merchants. Merchants purchase candy for the children. Thanks to our generous merchants!

November and December – Holidays in Port Townsend The goal is to promote local shopping/dining/lodging, assist with holiday lighting/decorations and create festive events and retail promotions to spark community connection. Small Business Saturday: November 30th, 2024. Community Treelighting and Santa visit: December 7th, 2024. Campaign includes postcards, print ads, signage, website, press releases, and social media promotion. Special events and holiday lighting add to the festive atmosphere uptown and downtown.
