Main Street Merchant Coffee Talks – We offer quarterly merchant meetings on a variety of topics. Cost per breakfast: free members / $5 nonmembers

Paving the Way to a Brighter Future Campaign – monthly events and retail activities to keep energy up downtown during the Water Street Enhancement Project. Family-friendly games, history walking tours, coupon books, advertising, art events and a “Party at the Plaza” on Tyler Street  June 30th to wrap it all up. Keep your money where your heart is and support local businesses during construction.

April 21, 2018 – Earth Day Spring Clean-Up 9-12 Noon. We coordinate volunteers and encourage business owners to help clean up and beautify downtown and uptown Port Townsend.

May Main Street Art Wave showcases K-12th grade student artwork for the month of May in businesses uptown and downtown. This promotion helps create awareness of arts education programs in the public schools. Cost: Free for members; $15 nonmembers. “Art Affair” fundraisers for the Arts in Education Program in the Port Townsend School District occur throughout the year.

Hanging Flower Basket Program – Flower baskets are ordered directly through Henery’s Garden Center. Main Street offers an optional watering and maintenance program, cost varies according to # of baskets. Mid-May through September 30th.


SUMMER

June 7, 2018 – Taste of Port Townsend, a tasty fundraiser for us. Sample ~ Sip ~ Mingle your way through Port Townsend’s culinary offerings. Held at the Northwest Maritime Center from 6 – 8 pm.

Concerts on the Dock A free 8-week outdoor concert series featuring primarily local bands on Thursdays starting July 12th and running through August 30th, 2018. The concerts take place at the Civic District Plaza from 5:00-7:30 pm and include a beer/wine/cider garden and local vendors. Attendance ranges from 350-500 each week. Goal: to create a connection with downtown, showcase great regional music and local businesses. Local businesses help sponsor these shows through venue sponsorships, beer/wine garden sponsorships and stage sponsorships.

August 18, 2018 – Uptown Street Fair & Parade – Over 2000 attend the event on Lawrence Street from 9 am to 5 pm. Local businesses help sponsor the event. Attendance is estimated at over 2,000. The goal of the event is to celebrate the Uptown Historic Business District and neighborhood, offer family fun, showcase great local art with the PT Arts Guild Arts & Crafts Fair as well as music, local food, and The Farmers’ Market. The Port Townsend Main Street Program helps coordinate the event, provides event insurance and marketing assistance.


Halloween

FALL/WINTER

October 4, 2018 – Main Street Girls’ Night Out to raise funds for Jefferson Healthcare Community Foundation to help provide free Breast/Cervical Cancer screenings for local women in need and the Port Townsend Main Street Program through the sale of 500 goodie bags and an after party. Promotion cost is $40 for members ($50 nonmembers). Approximately 500 event attendees.

October 31st, 2018 – Main Street Downtown Trick or Treat & Costume Parade on Halloween at 4 pm; The Port Townsend Main Street Program has coordinated this event since 1994. We work with the Port Townsend Police to close the streets from 3:45 to 5:30pm. Attendance estimate: 2,000 (K-6th graders with parents). Goal: a family-friendly event in the safe atmosphere of downtown and cultivate a community connection with downtown merchants. This is a free promotion; merchants purchase candy for the children. Thanks to our generous merchants!

November and December – Holidays in Port Townsend The goal is to promote local shopping/dining/lodging, assist with holiday lighting/decorations and create festive events and retail promotions to spark community connection. Merchant Open House and Small Business Saturday: November 24th, 2018. Community Tree lighting and Santa visit: December 1st, 2018. Kiwanis Choo Choo Rides for families December 8th and December 15th, 2018. Yuletide Fest coordinated by Olympic Peninsula Steam: December 15th, 2018. Campaign includes postcards, print ads, signage, website, press releases, and social media promotion. Special events and holiday lighting add to the festive atmosphere uptown and downtown.
